Karl Mayer Launches Multiply BX Biaxial Warp Knitting Machine for Wind Blade Reinforcement Fabrics
New biaxial warp knitting machine for wind power applications
Karl Mayer will introduce its Multiply BX biaxial warp knitting machine at ITMA ASIA 2026, targeting glass fibre reinforcement textiles for wind turbine rotor blades. The machine delivers 20-25% higher productivity than the Max Glass ECO, reaching production speeds of 1,600-2,200 min⁻¹ and output up to 500 metres per hour, with a 103-inch working width and reduced fisheye defects. It will be demonstrated live in Changzhou from 19-21 November and on 23 November 2026.
The Multiply BX's 20-25% productivity gain and reduced fisheye defects directly lower conversion cost per square meter of biaxial non-crimp fabric; however, the 103-inch working width requires downstream slitting lines to maintain tension control when cutting narrow rotor-blade strips, and the higher output of up to 500 m/h demands synchronized roll handling to avoid bottlenecking.
