Messe Frankfurt's Techtextil 2026, running 21–24 April, has launched the Nature Performance label grouping more than 110 exhibitors of natural and bio-based fibres and yarns. The fair also features around 90 exhibitors of recycled and recyclable fibres, including Teijin Group and Lenzing, alongside the Dutch Circular Textile Pavilion showcasing chemical fibre-to-fibre recycling. Around 120 companies carry the Texpertise Econogy sustainability certification label.
Katherine Soucie of Sans Soucie adapted a three-thread Union Special coverstitch machine to develop the Collage Technique, a zero-waste textile reassembly method for accessories that uses two- and three-thread layering to stitch and join sock waste.

The Performance Apparel Textiles area in Hall 9.0 doubles in size to around 130 exhibitors from 13 countries, while Textile Chemicals & Dyes debuts as a dedicated segment with over 30 exhibitors from eleven countries in Hall 9.0. The co-located Texprocess remains stable with around 200 exhibitors, bringing the combined total to over 1,700 exhibitors.

Everybody.World's Trash Tees, made from post-waste plastic-free cotton with low-impact dyes, broke down in a compost pile until they were nearly unrecognizable by the third week. Weekly monitoring showed white fungal growth after one week and fiber thinning with holes at sleeves and seams after two weeks. Microscope samples of the finished compost and remaining fabric revealed protozoa, testate amoebas, mature fungal hyphae, fungal spores, ciliates, and aerobic bacteria.
Companies, research institutes and universities can submit developments for the Techtextil and Texprocess Innovation Awards 2026 until 15 December 2025, with participation free of charge.
Messe Frankfurt will restructure the hall layout for Techtextil and Texprocess 2026, adding new product areas and extending content formats to help the industry seize international market opportunities. The 2026 edition, scheduled for 21–24 April, will feature a dedicated Textile Chemicals & Dyes segment and an expanded Performance Apparel Textiles area, with Texprocess located in Hall 8.0 adjacent to relevant Techtextil product areas. The early-booking offer for exhibitors is available until 12 March 2025.
Techtextil 2026 will expand its focus on functional natural fibres and materials, following the dedicated "Nature Performance" area at the April 2024 edition where more than 15 per cent of exhibitors already showed natural fibres and materials. Exhibitors included Canadian start-up Vegeto with degradable milkweed-based thermal insulation, Turkey's Anatolian Colors with natural dyes, and Swiss start-up OceanSafe with biodegradable circular polyester. The global natural fibres market is expected to grow to around USD 103 million in 2031.
